SPRING FAIR 2017 | BIRMINGHAM

So yesterday with work, I attended the Spring Fair event at the NEC arena in Birmingham. So, what's that then?! For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, the Spring Fair event is the biggest home & gift trade event in the UK, and it's literally an IKEA loving, interior and gift obsessors paradise, set out over 5 days from 5th Feb until the 9th. As we were going on the final day, we were eager to get the last look of what the exhibitors had to offer.

The event comprises of anything from fashion and jewellery, to home-ware and extraordinary gift ideas. The bonus of most of the exhibitors being lovely independent businesses, meant there were some gorgeous one-off pieces everywhere I looked, and let me tell you it was hard to resist. I had never actually heard of the show until I was invited to go along with work - and what better work perk could you think of other than documenting your day at the UK's No. 1 home & gift trade show? (whilst also shopping for yourself).

As we were there for business, there was a lot of hand shaking and bartering with companies but there was still a hell of a lot of time to roam and shop. As the event is only for trading and wholesale purposes, there were tons of things I wish I could've bought there and then but sadly I couldn't. It was definitely all strictly business, as everyone had to have individual badges that were scanned for entry and to get through to certain areas (legit like an episode of The Apprentice).

The place itself is humongous, maybe even too big in my opinion. There were over 2,300 exhibitors at the event and I couldn't quite get my head around having time to see all of them in one day! Anyone who's been to the Clothes Show at the NEC knows how big a scale these events can be.

Not only is there ton's of weird and wonderful things to see, there were various seminars across a number of stages. For work, we were more interested in the Ecommerce stage, they held three talks here and I was so eager to go along to all of them. The two seminars in the afternoon especially, as they tied in incredibly well with my job role as well as my blogging interests.

10:30am - 11:00am: THE BEST PRACTICE FOR SELLING ON AMAZON
12:00pm - 12:30pm: HOW VIDEO CONTENT, SOCIAL MEDIA & SEO CAN DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR WEBSITE
12:45pm - 13:15pm: HOW BLOGGING CAN BOOST YOUR GIFT SHOP OR RETAIL BUSINESS

I'm sure a lot of you bloggers reading this wouldn't have minded popping along to listen to a professional talk over all things marketing, blogging and retail. Luckily, the event in itself was super quiet, and we think that's down to it being the last day! We attended the last 'talk' which was really interesting, and as there was only a handful of us, it seemed really intimate and left me feeling a lot more inspired about blogging.

I took pictures here there and everywhere of the cutest stalls I could find. So I'm leaving this post a short one so you can have a look at a selection of my favourite ones from the day.  In the pic's you'll find various businesses specialising in home-ware, artificial flowers, candles, kitchen-ware, lighting and rose gold cutlery - yes, I know!! Be sure to check them out if you're into interior and gifts - HUBSCH Interior, PYRO PET, Light & Living, LANGS & Culinary Concepts London.

  2. This sounds like such a fantastic event! It would definitely be a great opportunity as a blogger, and even better - you got it for like a two for one, haha! The stalls look adorable, too. Too bad it wasn't for individual sale! I saw Pyro Pet in Iceland and was SO tempted to buy something as a souvenir, the only thing that stopped me was the plug difference ;)
