THE ONE WITH THE GOPRO

So as you may or may not know, I love to travel. Backpacking, city breaks, ski holidays.. you name it - I love it. Wherever I go I always tend to take my GoPro with me, I'm a proper geek when it comes to it, but I just love the idea of capturing the best moments through video. Not to mention the prospect of editing footage and sharing it for everyone to see when I get home (yeah, sad I know..).

Personally, I find that they're a great substitute to pictures for reminiscing on a particular time. So if you haven't tried it before, I'd definitely urge you to have a go! For this post I'm going to brief you on each of the video's I've made over the years...

The first video I edited I was kind of roped into doing.. by my dad. He spent 2 weeks in Thailand back in 2014 where he visited my sister who was living in Koh Tao. Sadly, I couldn't go as I had work commitments back home but it made me eager to save up and go. Fortunately, I spent 6 weeks travelling there last year and it was without a doubt the best experience of my life. In the next few weeks or so I am planning on writing a post on my own guide to travelling the country so keep an eye out for that!

So, when my dad got back from his travels I scanned through the footage he took and found that I didn't have many things to play around with (it was shocking). However, I managed to put something together which everyone seemed to love and from then on, the prospect of shooting and editing footage really excited me! And as my movie list keeps growing I feel as though they get better and better. If you haven't been on my Portfolio page yet, you can find the links to each video's I've made there! Or you can watch the Thailand 2014 film I edited here.

After the success of my first video, I was extremely eager to get going again. Back in 2014, my Dad and I took a last minute trip to Italy in August. A trip planned by myself, we visited 3 cities in 4 days and it was honestly one of the best holidays I've ever had; we travelled non-stop, on the go all the time! Beginning in Venice, travelling to Florence and then finishing in Milan it was super pretty, extremely cultural and the Italian delicacy was out of this world.  But... I won't let you in on anymore details, I plan to write a post dedicated to it as its my favourite country (ever). You can watch the video here.

The third video captures the 6 weeks I spent travelling around Thailand with my big sister. An unforgettable experience that I will never forget and will always want to do again. I travelled across the entire country, visiting a total of 11 cities. The experience has made me even eager to do it again and I plan to go travelling again at the end of this year but for 10-11 weeks this time - I can't get enough of the backpacking life.

Throughout the month and a half I did so many amazing things, staying with Thai locals during a 3 day homestay programme was definitely my highlight. I was able to look after an elephant for the entire 3 days - feeding, bathing, training and more. I won't go into too much detail, as I said before I want to dedicate a post to it. But, you can watch my Thailand video here.

My next and most recent video was dedicated to a short break to Amsterdam over the Christmas just gone! Yes I know - I was away for Christmas day, it felt so weird being away from home and not eating my weight in roast potatoes and chocolate. But I honestly had an amazing time. Its such a beautiful and romantic place, especially with all of the Dutch Christmas markets! My boyfriend and I stayed there for 4 nights and had so much to do there. Definitely a place I would love to go back to.. and maybe I'll write a post on it. You can watch the video here.

I've just recently got back from a weeks ski holiday in Chamonix with the fam. There was 6 of us in total and it was non-stop booze booze booze. I was really eager to try snowboarding as I've never had chance to do it before. I'm quite a good skier but snowboarding just looked like so much more fun and a lot cooler! I picked it up relatively easy and by mid week I was soaring through the blue runs and accidentally fell onto a red - I nearly cried. Unfortunately I didn't bring my GoPro with me, which I now regret, but I took some amazing photo's and a fair few panoramas of the views! Heres a few of my favourites...
